Did Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak Makers Change Acid Attacker’s Religion? Here's The Truth
#boycottchaapaak, Rajesh, Nadeem Khan and Bashir are among the top trends on Twitter currently. If you are wondering why we tell you the full story. Deepika Padukone's upcoming film Chhapaak got some negative light as the lady attended a demonstration at JNU campus. Ever since she stood up in solidarity with the students, people are demanding to boycott her film. Amidst this, the makers also called for flak for allegedly changing the name and religion of the attacker who threw acid on Laxmi Agarwal, on whom the film is based on.

It was after a magazine reported that the makers of Meghna Gulzar directorial changed the name of the attacker from Nadeem Khan to Rajesh. This led to a debate over religion and people started attacking the makers for showing Hindus in a bad light. However, now, things have got cleared. As per reports, the makers have not changed the name or religion of Malti's (Deepika Padukone's character name) in Chhapaak. Rajesh is Malti's friend in the film while the one who attacks her is Baboo aka Bashir Khan. This is the reason why Bashir, Rajesh and Nadeem Khan are trending on social media.

Talking about Chhapaak, the film released on January 10, 2019. It is based on the real-life story of an acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. She was the one who called for a total ban on the sale of acid after being attacked and getting her face disfigured in the year 2005. It was in 2006 that Laxmi had filed this PIL and in 2013, Supreme Court ruled in favour of Laxmi's plea.
